Please Join Us October 17th 10am-4pm and Sunday the 18th from 9am-3pm at Kilts Farm for a Revolutionary War Militia Muster Weekend.
This exciting event will give you a view of what a militia muster looked like 250 years ago. In 1776 the Continental Congress declared us an independent nation by signing the Declaration of Independence . The document let King George lll know that we would no longer be under British rule, but we still had to fight for that independence.
Militia activities will include soldier inspections and drills plus an interactive Kids musket drill so that they can join in the quest for liberty.
Daily schedules include:
Militia drill and musket demonstration at 11am and 2 pm
Committee of Safety meeting at 12 noon
Kids musket drill at 1pm
Though out the day there will be civilian and domestic life demonstrations. Visit a militia camp as well as the buildings on the farm.
Tryon County Committee of Safety gives you an opportunity to take part in local political matters. The committee was the acting local governmental authority.
On Sunday morning we will join our friends at the Stone Arabia Reformed Church, just down the road, in the commemoration of the battle of Stone Arabia.
We at Kilts Farm hope to see you there!
Please understand that some activities are due to change.
